Join the Fun at the Cooks River Day Out 2016
The Cooks River Day Out will be held on Sunday the 21st of August at Steel Park Marrickville, from 11.00am to 3.00pm, giving local communities the opportunity to celebrate and connect with the Cooks River. The free event will feature live music, food stalls and kids’ entertainment as well as workshops and tours to share ecological and cultural knowledge about the river.
Families, local residents and nature lovers are invited to the second annual Cooks River Day Out, to enjoy a fun and educational day out by the river. After attracting over 900 visitors last year, this year’s event will bring back many popular acts such as blues and roots band Bonnie Kay and the Bonafides, as well as new and exciting performances including Koori artist Blak Douglas who will be MC for the day.
Other highlights of the day will include tours and workshops sharing Aboriginal cultural and ecological knowledge, a wide range of fun activities and performances for the whole family, and cycling and kayaking tours.
Plus learn how the Cooks River Alliance (a partnership of six local councils united to improve the health of the River) and the community are continuing to work to maintain and enhance the river, protect its vibrant heritage and diverse qualities, and how to be involved.
