Parks & Sporting Fields

Canterbury City Council provides a wide variety of parks, gardens and sports grounds and recreational facilities to residents and visitors.

Sports Fields Wet Weather availability

We provide a Sports Fields Wet Weather Hotline telephone answering service, Text Service, and Internet Service to inform hirers of the availability of sports fields during periods of wet weather.

Aquatic centres

Our Aquatic & Fitness Centres are two of the most commendable fitness facilities within our City, serving the community since 1959 & 1967.

Community Centres

We operate a number of community centres throughout the City of Canterbury, including the Punchbowl Community Centre.


All of our libraries are conveniently located around our city at Campsie, Earlwood, Lakemba and Riverwood.

Child Care Centres

We operate 4 long day care centres which provide daily & weekly care for children up to 6 years of age as well as occasional & family day care services.

Dog friendly parks with off-leash areas

We provide four dog friendly parks with off-leash areas around our City where residents can legally take their dogs off the leash.

Tennis Courts

We have tennis courts available for hire at a number of convenient locations. For bookings and further information call Sportsmax on 0434 236 038.

Netball Courts

We currently have 3 separate locations that accomodate several netball courts.

Cycling & Walking Tracks

Some of our finest cycleways & walking paths are along the foreshore of the historic Cooks River and fantastic open spaces & parks.

Exercise & Fitness equipment

Take advantage of the Cooks River Fitness Trail & Wiley Park Outdoor Gym - self guided exercise systems suitable for users of all age groups & abilities.
