Stormwater DrainStormwater and Drainage

Drainage

Council has 100km of stormwater structures within its network. These structures include pipes, tonkins, pits and channels. The stormwater infrastructure is reaching the end of its service life with the majority of the drainage pipe network between 60-100 years old.

Management and Renewal

A list of priority areas have been identified and realistic works programs developed. The priority is based on structural integrity, capacity, risk to property or people and proposed logical work sections. A major component of the works program will be the repair of the oldest "man made" pipelines known as tonkins.

Investing in the Cooks River

Council will be working hard with neighbouring Councils, the NSW Government and our community to develop long-term plans to improve and protect our valuable waterways. This includes the Cooks River, an important community and recreational facility which has become an iconic feature of our city.

By working together, we can make a difference!
