Campsie Civic Centre Redevelopment

The Master Plan sets out the intended key design principles to guide planning for future proposed redevelopment schemes related to the land in the block bounded by Beamish Street, Brighton Avenue, Shakespeare Street and Clissold Parade, Campsie.

The DCP expands on the Master Plan principles, providing more detailed guidance on implementing the Master Plan for the site.

The Draft Master Plan has been finalised only after ensuring it reflects the best possible solutions in a number of vital areas.

The proposal embodies other new community facilities including:

  • A new Civic Square for markets, festivals and community events
  • A landmark Civic Park
  • A new 'Market Lane' and 'East West Colonnade' for wandering through the Centre
  • A refurbished Orion Function Centre

Other elements of the proposal include:

  • Beamish Street frontage will be mainly retail/commercial in character with an enhanced night-time economy  and the possibility of various entertainment venues
  • Clissold Parade frontage will also be re-activated and is likely to have a commercial character at street level with residences above.

Following the adoption of the LEP, DCP and Masterplan at the Council meeting on 28 May 2009, the:

  • LEP will now be referred to the Minister for Planning for approval
  • Work will commence on documents to be provided to interested project proponents.
