What you can recycle
Paper and cardboard - including newspapers, magazines, brochures, office paper, envelopes, cardboard boxes (no waxed fruit boxes). Flatten cardboard boxes; no waxed cardboard boxes or pizza boxes
Glass jars and bottles (clear, brown and green glass)
Milk and juice cartons
Aluminium cans
Steel cans and steel aerosol cans (no lids)
Disposable plastic bottles Some examples of these plastics include:
(PET) - like clear and coloured soft drink bottles
(HDPE) - like 2L and 3L milk bottles
(vinyl) - includes plastic cordial and juice bottles
(LDPE) - includes ice cream container lids
(PP) - includes ice cream containers and take-away containers

Don't forget!
Please take lids off bottles, jars and aerosol cans, and rinse bottles, jars and cans before putting them in the bin.
What not to put into your recycle bin
PLEASE DO NOT PUT PLASTIC BAGS OR STYROFOAM INTO RECYCLING BINS
Household rubbish, food scraps and nappies
Clothing, food and textiles
Garden vegetation
Crockery, ceramics, porcelain, light globes, window glass, frosted glass and mirrors
Waxed cardboard boxes
Pizza boxes and paper soiled with food scraps
Plastics marked with numbers 6 and 7, or no number at all
Oil and paint tins
Chemicals and hazardous materials
Syringes
Liquids
Don't know what to recycle? Call Council on 9789 9300 before putting it out.
Yellow for Recycling
Recycling is collected only from the yellow lid recycling bins. Houses, villas and townhouses have a 240L yellow lid recycling bins emptied every 2 weeks; units have 240L yellow lid recycling bins to be shared 1 bin between 3 units and emptied weekly. Recycling is collected on the same day as your rubbish. Recycling not inside a bin (eg. loose cardboard boxes) will not be collected.
What week is my recycling collected? (Houses, Villas, Townhouses)
If you live in a house, villa or townhouse, your recycling will be collected every 2 weeks on the same day as your rubbish. Check your recycling calendar to find out which week to put out your recycling, or call Council on 9789 9300 to receive a calendar or download the applicable one from the panel on the right hand side of this page.

The Department of Environment and Conservation NSW states that "Australians love to recycle. In fact, we are one of the best recycling nations in the world! But recycling can be tricky, this (Easy Guide to Recycling) brochure offers some tips on how to make it a little easier."
Recycling Card
We have reproduced our easy-to-understand Recycling Card in a number of community languages. This card will show you what recyclable materials you can place into yellow-lid bins and which waste materials cannot be recycled. This is just another way we are encouraging "Living with Less Waste"!
