Our Local Town Centres

About Canterbury City

Canterbury City is a culturally diverse City with a fascinating history and bustling cosmopolitan flavour. Located seventeen kilometres south-west of the centre of Sydney, it covers an area of 33.4 sq kilometres and has sixteen suburbs within its boundaries. Of these sixteen suburbs, we recognise twelve as Town Centres:

In addition, the City of Canterbury supports active industrial areas and the thriving commercial spine of Canterbury Road.

Infrastructure Renewal Program

Infrastructure Improvements

We're also continuing our record spending on infrastructure with our Infrastructure Renewal Program (IRP).

To date, we've spent over $8 million on 219 projects including road pavement resurfacing, road reconstruction, concrete footpath rehabilitation and drainage.

Our aim is to make our town centres and City as a whole safer for residents, children, pedestrians and motorists.
