New vision for Canterbury Town Centre

In 2006 Council proposed a scheme to revitalise the Canterbury Town Centre and Riverfront Precinct and transform it into a modern, vibrant mix of shops, cafes, commercial and residential developments.

The aim of the Master Plan is to bring new life and better community facilities to the Canterbury Town Centre and revitalise the old industrial precinct.

Since the Master Plan was previously exhibited, Council has continued to work on the planning framework and complete all of the necessary background studies to ensure the Master Plan can be achieved.

We now have ready for Public Exhibition the following plans:

Download CantTownCent-DCP-DRAFT.pdf Draft Development Control Plan (6.2MB)

Download CantTownCent-LEP-DRAFT2.pdf Draft Local Environmental Plan (1.31MB)

Download CantTownCent-Strategy-DRAFT2.pdf Strategy for improvements to the public domain (3.46MB)

The exhibition will run from 28 September 2009 to 23 October 2009 at our Administration Centre. If you wish to make a submission, it will need to be in writing and should reach us no later than Friday 30 October 2009.

The exhibition of the plans is your opportunity to see what is planned for this area over the next 10-20 years. More importantly, it will give you the local community, property owners and local businesses, the chance to have your say about the future of Canterbury Town Centre and Riverfront Precinct.

Full copies of the draft LEP, draft DCP and draft Public Domain Strategy are available for viewing, along with other supporting documentation, at our Customer Service Centre or by clicking on the links above.
