BarbehireThrow another snag on the sustainable barbeque!

The 2011 Local Business Awards are an important and prestigious recognition of the calibre, quality and diversity of the businesses in our City, and we congratulate Barbehire Punchbowl for winning the first ever Sustainable Business Award at the 2011 Local Business Awards!

Barbehire impressed the judges with the actions of their Management and their staff to save energy and reduce waste. Strategies included the diversion of food waste from landfill by taking care not to over cater, giving leftovers to the hosts and scraps are composted. Barbehire have also invested in a rainwater tank, which saved 14 000 litres of water last year, to supply their wash bay. They have also reduced their power bills by installing solar on their roof.
