Literacy & Numeracy
Our library has many books, audiotapes, videos and CD on the subject of literacy and numeracy. This guide has been written to help you find the information you need in the library. Each of our libraries has a special collections which will help anyone who wants to learn English. This is called the Learning English Collection. Each item has a coloured sticker on the cover to help you find what you are looking for. You will find books, language kits (books and audiotapes) and videos in each level. Please ask library staff if you need help to use the Learning English Collection.
Many community and church groups conduct English language and English conversation classes. These are listed on the LINCS community information directory, which can be accessed online via the Canterbury City Council website at www.canterbury.nsw.gov.au - follow the link to Community Information. Useful headings to use with the LINCS search engine are Language education and English conversation.
