What kinds of Leisure Facilities do we provide?

We provide and maintain bike and walking paths, leisure facilities like Canterbury and Roselands Aquatic Centres and the Golf Course in Moorefields Road, Beverly Hills.

So, why not pack your favourite food and drinks and have a picnic in one of the many picturesque local parks. Barbeque facilities are available at most of the larger parks and open spaces and play equipment are there for the children to enjoy.

There are 27 sports grounds, 95 play grounds, 217 passive open spaces, 57 hectares of bushland and 4 bushland reserves including hidden treasures such as:

  • Riverwood Wetlands
    A vibrant, interactive parkland for local families to enjoy. The reserve features a wetland with fish, turtles, birdlife and other animals. You can picnic in this beautiful park while your children run around, riding their bikes or check out the skatepark.
  • Gough Whitlam Park, Undercliffe
    On the banks of the Cooks River, this is a picturesque and spacious park, with a cricket pitch and oval, wonderful playground equipment, bike tracks and a basketball court.
  • Peace Park, Ashbury
    Enjoy the view of our beautiful City from the Tower, plus there's a bike track and walkway to enjoy.
  • John Mountford Reserve, Narwee
    A great location for tennis, picnics and ball games.
  • Croydon Park
    Located on Albert Road has big open space and playgounds.
  • Wiley Park, Corner King Georges and Canterbury Roads
    Enjoy the beautiful ponds, picnic areas and an ampitheatre.

We also offer quality sport and leisure facilities for the novice to the seasoned professional and for those who are simply looking for some :

  • Aquatic centres
    Need to get fit or just cool down? Then visit Canterbury Aquatic and Fitness Centre or Roselands Aquatic Centre.
  • Sporting fields and parks
    In our city we have 27 sports grounds, 95 play grounds, 217 passive open spaces and 4 bushland reserves.
  • Tennis Courts
    Tennis is a great social way to increase your fitness and to stay healthy while having fun and learning or improving your skills in one of Australia's most popular activities. We have 24 tennis courts available for hire at a number of convenient locations. 
  • Golf Course
    Our nine hole golf course at Moorefields Road, Beverly Hills is open seven days a week. It is kept in excellent condition and is ideal for weekend golfers and beginners. The pro shop hires out clubs and buggies and sells snacks and drinks and an excellent range or qualify golf equipment.
  • Cooks River
    The Cooks River is a 23km-long, and about seven kilometres of the river passes through the City of Canterbury. Along it's course are parks and the bike path and is popular with local and visitors alike.
  • Salt Pan Creek Wetlands
    It is now an ideal place to picnic with your family or take a leisurely stroll around the pond. The reserve features a wetland with fish, turtles, birdlife and other animals.  
  • Skate Park
    The Skate Park in Riverwood is another recreational facility that we offer local residents, especially young people. The Skate Park is used for roller-blading, BMX bike riding and skateboarding and is located in the Salt Pan Creek Recreation area.
  • Cycle way to Botany Bay
    Cycle along the historic Cooks River and have a great day out! The Ryde to Botany Bay Cycleway is 23km long. Enjoy the many parks dotted along the cycleway which have great spots for BBQ's and picnics.
  • Wolli Creek and Walk
    The Wolli Creek Valley contains the largest area of bushland occurring in the City of Canterbury. It is also the most significant bushland remaining in the inner southwest of Sydney.
  • Walking Paths
    The Wolli Creek Walk centres around Girrahween Park. Some of the attactions of the park include picnic, barbeque and play facilities, a pond, lookouts with extensive views over the valley and ample native flora and fauna.
