Provision of Disability Access

The Disability Access Checklist is a guide to barrier-free access to buildings and facilities.  It seeks to clarify what is required before building and development applications will be approved.  Architects, designers, builders and Council staff are encouraged to use it. The booklet is designed to give a general introduction to some access features in buildings, but it is not meant to be a comprehensive manual.

It is essential that the Building Code of Australia and information on the Disability Standards are used to get a full and clear definition of the legal requirements.

A number of organisations that can provide additional assistance are listed. Council also can assist. If you would like a copy of the booklet sent to you, please email royg@canterbury.nsw.gov.au or phone 02 9789 9432.
