Ivan Goodacre was born in Cowra, NSW on the 1st December 1954. He discovered his talent for drawing at the age of 7 and after encouragement from his grandmother he decided to take up oil painting.
Ivan was educated at Cowra High School and after completing his HSC in 1972, he commenced study at the Canberra School of Art in 1977 until 1979. In 1980, Ivan won first prize in the Cowra Festival Art Exhibition and was also highly commended the following year. During 1980, Ivans works were exhibited in group exhibitions in Canberra. In 1981 he conducted a solo exhibition in his home town.
He is currently working on oil paintings of water and bridges, particularly the Cooks River area and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
