Creating more jobs in our region

We are working with Hurstville and Sutherland Shire Councils to secure jobs and investment and lure prospective investors to Southern Sydney, resulting in the creation of more local jobs.

The joint project, called Building Employment Opportunity in Sydney's South, marks the first time our three local government areas have come together to jointly plan our economic development futures. The partnership aims to assist Council and business to realise the potential of the key industrial precincts located within our three local government areas. We'll be looking at:

• Regeneration strategies for light manufacturing and surrounding community areas;
• Creating links to foster innovation and knowledge exchange between higher education, local networks and dynamic local business operations;
• Supporting local business clusters; and
• Developing a strong partnership between the three participating Councils to attract business and promote our region.

We deliver a range of services to local businesses and industry. Our Town Centres & Economic Development Program coordinates activities in the following four key areas:

Vibrant and thriving Town Centres recognised for their excellence in private and public urban design, quality of streetscape and amenities for residents and visitors.

»Heritage, Arts and Cultural Development:
Town Centres noted for their unique approach to public art, heritage and general streetscape presentation - reflecting the cultural diversity of our City.

»Business and Economic Development:
A thriving and robust local economy serviced and supported by a comprehensive business and economic information service, business networks and small business resources and support.

»Promotion, Tourism and Marketing:
A comprehensive program of Town Centre marketing activities, promotions and events showcasing our local business and community.
