Economic Development Committee
Overview and proceedings
The Economic Development Committee (formerly known as Town Centres Development Committee) commenced in June 2000 and comprises representatives of local Chambers of Commerce, Councillors, Council Directors and Officers.
The aim of the Committee is to develop:
- Solutions to improve the commercial viability and amenity of Town Centres
- Long term visions for the commercial, industrial and retail development of Canterbury City with emphasis on economic viability, user safety, crime prevention, access and community participation
- Strategic actions which take a broad, long term view of economic development across Canterbury City as a whole and the potential for the development of a Central Business District
- Activities or events associated with our sister city relationships
